Willis L. "Uncle Dickie" Sipes, 87, of McConnellsburg, PA, passed away Sunday, April 22nd, at the Fulton County Medical Center, McConnellsburg, PA.
Willis was born in Harrisonville, PA on February 17, 1931, a son of the late Fatha Mae (Oakman) and Maurice N. Sipes. He was the widower of Elizabeth H. "Betty" (DeShong) Sipes whom he married on December 26, 1951. She preceded him in death on December 2, 2014.
Mr. Sipes served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict, was a member of the Siloam United Methodist Church in Harrisonville, PA and attended the Needmore Bible Church. Willis retired from Letterkeny Army Depot in 1983 after thirty five years of service. He was devoted family man.
He is survived by daughters Liz (wife of Bob) Gouak, of Warfordsburg, PA, Fatha (wife of Ed) Clark, of Breezewood, PA, sons Ronald (husband of Mary) Sipes, of Greencastle, PA., Jeff Sipes, of McConnellsburg, PA and a brother Quay Sipes, of Greencastle, PA. In addition to his children and brother, he is survived by nine grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by sister Hilda Maye Hill, brothers Norris Lee Sipes, James Sipes, Edgar Sipes and Marvin Sipes.
There will be visitation on Tuesday, April 24th from 10 to 11 AM at Howard L. Sipes Funeral Home, Inc., McConnellsburg, PA.
Funeral services will be held at the Howard L. Sipes Funeral Home, Inc., McConnellsburg, PA, at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, April 24th, with Pastor Dick Bernhard officiating.
Interment at Siloam United Methodist Cemetery,Harrisonville, PA.
Military services will be provided by the Fulton Honor Guard.
