Thornton Mellott, Jr. Obituary

     Thornton Mellott, Jr., 90, of McConnellsburg, PA passed away Sunday, December 20th, 2020 at his residence.

     Thornton was born in Needmore, PA on April 23, 1930, the son of the late Mabel (Truax) Mellott and Thornton D. Mellott, Sr.  He was the widower of Beatrice O. (Truax) Mellott whom he married on January 14, 1950 and she passed away on May 25, 2019.

     He was a member of the Christian Life Assembly of God Church in Chambersburg, PA and a member of the McConnellsburg Volunteer Fire Company.  Thornton was a carpenter all of his life.  In his earlier years, he worked for Mack Horton, Charlie Reeder and then became part owner/operator of Fulton Builders in McConnellsburg, PA.  Mr. Mellott enjoyed hunting, fishing, going to Chincoteague and spending time with his family.

     Thornton is survived by daughters Linda (wife of Harold) Batdorff, of McConnellsburg, PA, Deb (wife of Roger) Richards, of McConnellsburg, PA, grandchildren Shanda L. (wife of Mike) Henry, Brian A. "Maz" Batdorff, Mandy Richards Hoey (wife of George), Ryan B. (husband of Kim) Richards all of McConnellsburg, PA, great grandchildren Luke Mellott, Sydney Mellott, Zeb Henry, Cabe Batdorff, Clayton Garlock, Haley Garlock, Thornton "Carter" Garlock, Lexi Richards and Jenna Richards.  Thornton was preceded in death by sister Rosalie DeShong, brothers William and Sheridan Mellott, half-sisters Nevada and Ethel Mellott, half-brothers Melvin, Ross, Roy and Grant Mellott.

     Due to COVID-19 restrictions, services and interment at the Pleasant Ridge Church of the Brethren Cemetery in Needmore, PA will be private.
