Ray O. Mellott, Sr., 82, of Needmore, PA, passed away Saturday, July 11th, at Phoenixville Hospital, Phoenixville, PA.
Ray was born in Sipes Mill , Fulton County, PA on January 2, 1938, a son of the late Ditha May (Truax) and Blaine L.W. Mellott. He was the husband of Patricia L. (Zepp) Mellott, whom he married on June 26, 1982.
He was a member of Ebenezer United Methodist Church Needmore, PA , which he went on numerous missionary trips throughout the years and a lifetime member of the Needmore Volunteer Fire Company. Ray worked many years at James River Corporation, Chambersburg, PA before its closing. He also owned and operated Mellotts Tree Farm, raising thousands of Christmas Trees for the community over the years. Ray was a kind and caring person to everyone, he truly was the epitome of what it means to be a friend.
In addition to his wife he is survived by his son Ray O. (husband of Lisa) Mellott, Jr., of Wells Tannery, PA, daughter Crystal L. (wife of Robert) Bussard, of Pottstown, PA, sisters Esther (wife of Dale) Mellott, of Shiremanstown, PA, Treva Starr, of Three Springs, PA, Mary Miles, of FL, brothers Foster (husband of Barbara) Mellott, of Needmore, PA, Sheldon (husband of Judy) Mellott, of Chambersburg, PA and Virgil Mellott, of Needmore, PA. He is also survived by eighteen grandchildren and twenty great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son Norman E. Mellott, Sr., daughter Ditha H. Mellott, brother Orville W. Mellott, sister Mabel Mellott and infant sister Evelyn Mellott.
Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, July 15, 2020 at 11:00AM at the Ebenezer United Methodist Cemetery Needmore, PA, with Pastor Eric Sollenberger and Pastor Donald Bard officiating. If attending, its encouraged to bring a lawn chair.
