John "David" Mellott, 76, of Fort Loudon, PA passed away Monday, July 10th, 2017 at his residence.
David was born in Saluvia, PA on March 20, 1941, the son of the late Mary (Hann) Mellott Berkstresser and Jesse W. Mellott, Sr. He was the husband of Carolyn A. (Hardman) Mellott whom he married on February 5, 1967.
He served in the U.S. Army as a Sgt in the Vietnam War attached to the 7th Calvary, was a member of the Asbury United Methodist Church in Harrisonville, PA and was a supervisor at Grove Manufacturing in Shady Grove, PA. David enjoyed all music especially gospel and playing bluegrass music. He also enjoyed hunting, farming, his animals and most of all his family.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by daughters Susanna R. Shipp of Fort Loudon, PA, Sandra K. (wife of William) Robinson of Chambersburg, PA, son Mark D. (companion Renita Vilaysane) of Mercersburg, PA, sister Rebecca (wife of Milton) Wink of McConnellsburg, PA, brother Edgar C. (husband of Lucinda) Mellott of Harrisonville, PA, five grandsons, two granddaughters and five great granddaughters. Preceded in death by sisters Olive King, Naomi Susan Clippinger and brother Jesse W. Mellott, Jr.
Visitation will be Wednesday, July 12, 2017 from 6 to 8 PM at Howard L. Sipes Funeral Home, Inc., McConnellsburg, PA. There will also be visitation one hour before the service on Thursday at the funeral home.
Religious Service at Howard L. Sipes Funeral Home, Inc., McConnellsburg, PA at 11:00 AM on Thursday, July 13th, 2017 with Pastor Gail Kitchen and Pastor Dick Bernhard officiating.
Interment at Asbury United Methodist Cemetery, Harrisonville, PA.
Military services will be conducted by the Fulton Honor Guard.
