James D. "Jim" Souders

 James D. "Jim" Souders, 85, of McConnellsburg, PA, passed away Saturday, May 16th, at Quincy Village, Waynesboro, PA.

     Jim was born in McConnellsburg, PA on August 18, 1934, a son of the late Hazel (Seville) and Frank  Souders.  He was the husband of the late Joyce A. Souders, who preceded him in death on January 14, 2019.

     Jim served in the United States Army during the Korean War.  He was a truck driver and a mechanic.  He serviced the local community for many years working in his garage, fixing anything that was brought to him.  He especially liked working on lawn mowers in his later years after retiring from working on cars. 
  
     Jim was a member of the McConnellsburg United Methodist Church, Mt. Zion Lodge #774, VFW Post 655, McConnellsburg and the American Legion Post 561, McConnellsburg.

     He is survived by his sons;  Eric D. (husband of Kathy) Souders, of Hustontown, PA, Kelly S. (husband of Connie) Souders, of McConnellsburg, PA,  Kent O. (husband of Amanda) Souders, of McConnellsburg, PA, sisters Yvonne "Sis" McQuade, of McConnellsburg, PA, Judy  Speer, of McConnellsburg, PA and Deb  Souders, of McConnellsburg, PA.  He is also survived by ten grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his first wife Jean A. Souders, daughter Lori Reams, grandson Trevor Souders, granddaughter Kendra Souders, brothers Grant, Jess, Jack, John and Rod Souders and sisters Beverly Feagley and Cindy Starr.

     Due to the Covid-19 restrictions, funeral services will be private with Pastor Lyle Mellott officiating.  Interment will be at Union Cemetery McConnellsburg, PA.
