Harold W. Locke, Jr., 89, of Chambersburg, PA and formerly of Saint Thomas, PA went home to be with the Lord on January 12, 2024.
Harold was born in Saint Thomas, PA on July 7, 1934, a son of the late Mildred (Diller) and H. Wayne Locke. He was united in marriage to Alma M. (Anderson) Locke on September 22, 1962, who survives him.
He served proudly and honorably in the United States Army. After many years in the trucking industry, he retired from Preston Truck Company. He was a past member of the Saint Thomas Volunteer Fire Company, which he helped to start, and a past member of the Mt. Parnell Lions Club. Harold was also a member of the First United Methodist Church of Mercersburg, where he served faithfully in many activities with his wife.
Harold never lost his love for the farm. He enjoyed it all but using his knowledge and experience to have a cow produce at her best was a gift. A great joy to Harold was his time on the Glenn Brake Family Farm as long as his health allowed him to be there.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his sisters Corrine Mackley, of Hagerstown, MD and Helen Grove, of Palm Springs, CA. He was preceded in death by brothers Reuben Locke and Richard Locke.
Funeral services will be held at the First United Methodist Church of Mercersburg, Mercersburg, PA, at 11:00 AM on Thursday, January 18, 2024 with Pastor Dick Williams and Pastor Dan Allen officiating. There will be one hour of visitation held prior to the service at the church.
Interment will be at the Wells Valley Methodist Cemetery in Wells Tannery , PA.
Arrangements were made by the Howard L. Sipes Funeral Home Inc., McConnellsburg, PA. Online condolences may be expressed at www.howardlsipes.com.
