Eldon C. Strait

     Eldon C. Strait, 71, of McConnellsburg, PA, passed away Saturday, September 2, 2023, at the York Hospital, York, PA.

     He was born  August 27, 1952, in Chambersburg, PA, to the late Woodrow W. and Helen (Pittman) Strait.

     He served in the US Marine Corps during the Vietnam War era and was stationed in Honolulu, Hawaii.  Eldon was postmaster at Warfordsburg, PA.  His interests included hunting, helping fellow veterans, visiting friends and his family.  Eldon was past Post Commander of the American Legion Post 561, McConnellsburg, PA and while in office worked diligently for the benefit of fellow veterans. 

     He is survived by his brother Roger, McConnellsburg, PA and his daughters Shalynn (wife of Bryan) Stough, of Dover, PA and Brittany Strait, of Wilmington, NC.  He is also survived by eight grandchildren; Julia, Aliza, Kent, Claire and Quinn Stough; and Nolan, Luke and Goldie Strait.  He was preceded in death by his parents.

     Per his request, there will only be a graveside service, which will be held on Friday, September 8, 2023 at 10:00 AM at Siloam United Methodist Cemetery, Harrisonville, PA.  Military honors will be conducted by the Fulton Honor Guard.  

     The family of Eldon, would like to thank the nurses, surgeons and doctors at the Intensive Care Unit, York Hospital.
