Donald R. "Don" Truax, 75, of McConnellsburg, PA, passed away Friday, January 31st, at his residence.
Don was born in Harrisonville, PA on May 23, 1944, a son of the late Rose E. (Clark) and Ivan L. Truax. He was the husband of Shirley K. (Snyder) Truax, whom he married on October 6, 1967. She preceded him in death on September 1, 2015.
Don was of the protestant faith. In his younger years, Don did carpentry work before going to work at JLG, McConnellsburg and retiring after fifteen years of service. Don had many interests and hobbies including hunting, fishing, carpentry and cooking. One of his favorite things to do was helping friends and family butcher during the fall and winter. He also had a love of pickup trucks with Chevy being his favorite and helping his kids, when they were younger and grandchildren presently, raise their 4H project animals. Don volunteered at the local rifle range for many years cooking and also cooked for family and friends during hunting season and get togethers. He will be remembered for always having a smile on his face, no matter the situation.
He is survived by daughter LaDawn (wife of John) Hoffman, of McConnellsburg, PA, son Kevin (husband of Kellee) Truax, of McConnellsburg, PA, sister Lucille B. Truax, of Needmore, PA, sister L. Diane Snook, of Hustontown, PA, mother in law Kate Snyder, of McConnellsburg, PA and sister in law Debbie (wife of Fred) Lane, of Goodyear, AZ. He is also survived by four grandchildren; Drew and Nicole Hoffman and Katelyn and Kole Truax. In addition to his wife Shirley, he was preceded in death by brother Roger E. Truax.
There will be a visitation held on Wednesday, February 5, 2020 from 11 AM till 2 PM. at the Howard L. Sipes Funeral Home, Inc, McConnellsburg, PA.
Funeral services will be at Howard L. Sipes Funeral Home, Inc., McConnellsburg, PA, at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, February 5th, with Pastor William Swope officiating.
Interment will be at Union Cemetery McConnellsburg, PA.
