Donald A. "Donnie" Sowers

 Donald Allen "Donnie" Sowers, 68, of McConnellsburg, PA passed away Tuesday, December 8th, 2020 at his residence. 

     Donnie was born in Harrisonville, PA on September 2, 1952, the son of the late Hazel (Barnhart) and Clarence Reed Sowers.  He was the husband of Linda M. (Mellott) Sowers whom he married on June 29, 1990.

     He served in the U.S. Army as an SP4 during the Vietnam War,  was a retired mechanic from the Letterkenny Army Depot after working there for thirty-five years and in his younger years, he operated a garage working on vehicles.  Donnie enjoyed NASCAR, watching old classic TV shows, working on vehicles and figuring out what was wrong with them.  He also loved the Lord and enjoyed morning Bible study with his wife.

     In addition to his wife, he is survived by sisters Alma Ashley, of McConnellsburg, PA, Joyce Mannetti, of Warfordsburg, PA, Barbara (wife of Carl) Sipes, of Warfordsburg, PA, Linda (wife of Harold) DeShong, of McConnellsburg, PA, brothers Dennis (husband of Wilma) Sowers, of Chambersburg, PA and Roger Sowers.  Donnie was preceded in death by sisters Alice Colledge, Madeline Adams, brothers Robert and Kenneth Sowers.

     Graveside service at Union Cemetery, McConnellsburg, PA, at 12:00 PM on Friday, December 11th,  2020 with Pastor Carl Sipes officiating.  If attending, it is encouraged to bring a lawn chair and follow CDC guidelines regarding COVID-19.
