Donald W. "Don" DeShong, 81, of McConnellsburg, PA passed away Friday, April 10th, 2020 at Laurel Lakes Wellness and Rehab Center, Chambersburg, PA.
Don was born in Chambersburg, PA on June 30, 1938, the son of the late Olitipa F. (Kline) Hann and Riley J. DeShong. He was the husband of Helen L. DeShong whom he married on March 16, 1959.
Mr. DeShong was a member of the Asbury United Methodist Church in Harrisonville, PA, the Teamster's #992, the Mt. Zion Lodge #774 in McConnellsburg, PA, the Grease, Steam and Rust Association in Fulton County, PA, the Western New York Cylinder Club and also was past president of the Fulton County Fair Board. He worked for PennDOT for thirty-five years upon retiring in 2018 and also operated his landscaping company for ten years. Don enjoyed all tractors, especially John Deere but his favorites were the antique tractors.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by daughter Kimberlie S. Hanselman, of Marietta, GA, grandchildren Julie Zarra, of St. Clair Shores, MI and Melissa Hanselman, of Kennesaw, GA. Don was preceded in death by an infant brother.
Due to the COVID-19 restrictions, a private service was held with Pastor Allann Schmidt officiating. Interment was at Union Cemetery in McConnellsburg, PA.
