Donald Herman Clevenger went to be with our Lord on Saturday, December 17, 2022.
He was born in the Buckhorn Hotel in McConnellsburg, PA on April 9, 1937 to Herman and Evelyn Martz Clevenger.
After graduation from MHS in 1955, he served in the U.S. Army as a crypt analyst until 1958. His chosen profession was as a truck driver and he went on to successfully create Clevenger Trucking Company.
Donald was an active member of the Chambersburg Mosaic Church of the Nazarene and a lifetime member of The Fulton County Historical Society, the American Legion, AmVets, Life Loyal Teke of the Grand Chapter of Tau Kappa Epsilon Fraternity and the Mercersburg Sportsman Association. He was an avid fan of NASCAR and one of many highlights was attending the NASCAR awards banquet at the Waldorf-Astoria Hotel in NYC in 1988. His extensive travels included the continental United States, Canada, Europe, northern Africa, and the Bahama Islands.
Donald was preceded in death by his parents, an infant brother, and his first wife, Patricia Edwards, of Hustontown. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Stephanie Lendyok Clevenger, his three sons, Brian D. Clevenger of McConnellsburg, PA, William "Bill" H. Clevenger, Steven Powers of Worcester, MA,, his two daughters, Lynn P. Mellott of McConnellsburg, PA , Beth A. Rezzetano of McConnellsburg, PA, one brother, Dr. Robert W. Clevenger. He is also survived by twelve grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren, several nieces and a nephew.
Donald was affectionately known as the "Big Kahuna" by friends of his children. He will be remembered for his generous nature, his infectious smile, and his constant "thumbs up" attitude in life.
Funeral services will be held at the Howard L. Sipes Funeral Home Inc., McConnellsburg, PA on Thursday, December 22nd, 2022 at 12:00 PM with Pastor William Swope officiating. There will an hour of visitation held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Thursday.
Interment will be held at Union Cemetery, McConnellsburg, PA. Military honors will be conducted by the Fulton Honor Guard.
