Deborah “Debee” Ethridge went home with Jesus on July 13, 2023 after a long battle with cancer. Born November 15, 1954, in Ashiya, Japan, she was the daughter of Winifred Ethridge and the late H. David Ethridge. In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her infant son, Michael, and son, Aaron Hoover of Pittsburgh, Pa.
She is survived by her mother, Winifred Ethridge of Hershey, Pa; son Luke Hoover (Bethany) of Wells Tannery, Pa; daughter in law, Melanie Sanfilippo of Pittsburgh, Pa; grandchildren Sage, Nova, Ainsley and Grayson. She is also survived by her brother David Ethridge (Patricia) of Elizabethtown, Pa., and numerous nieces and nephews.
She graduated from Central Dauphin East High School and recently retired from the Commonwealth of PA Department of Aging.
Debee was a gifted musician and shared her talent as organist in her teen years at the Church of God in Harrisburg, Pa. She was also the organist at the Royalton United Methodist Church and pianist at the Grace & Truth Bible Church in Hummelstown, Pa. Debee was a piano teacher who passed along her musical skills to a number of students. Additionally, Debee was an outstanding seamstress, crocheter, and knitter. She enjoyed making special home-made gifts for family and friends.
Debee loved spending time with her grandchildren, her greatest joy in life. She also enjoyed boating on Raystown Lake, trips to the beach, and spending time at Deep Creek Lake with her friends.
At Debee’s request, her ashes will be released at a private gathering in her honor later this year.
A celebration of life service will be held on July 28th, 2023 at 3:00pm at Cowan’s Gap State Park pavilion number 2, 6235 Aughwick Rd, Fort Loudon, PA 17224. A fellowship meal will follow the service.
