Charles R. "Bob" Roman

    Charles R. "Bob" Roman, 79, of Harkers Island, NC and formerly of Chambersburg, PA, passed away Sunday, July 3rd in North Carolina. 

     Bob was born in McKees Rocks, PA on August 21, 1942, a son of the late Virginia Elizabeth (Gibbons) and John A. Roman. 

     He honorably served his country in the United States Army in Germany from 1961 to 1964.  Following his time in the service and after many career changers, Bob took over the family business, Roman's Army Store and later Sunset Billiards in Chambersburg, PA.  Bob has lived for the past six years in Harkers Island where he enjoyed boating and collecting whatever struck his fancy.  He also served on the Carteret County Election Board for numerous years.  He also was a Mason and a Shriner, actively serving for many years.  He was a member of the  Charles Nitterhouse VFW Post 1599, Burt J. Asper American Legion Post 46, Elks Lodge, Landis-McCleaf Marine Corps League and the Veterans of Vietnam Wars Post 41, all of Chambersburg, PA.  He will be deeply missed by his loved ones.

     Bob is survived by his companion of fifteen years, Anita A. Cummins of Harkers Island, NC, his daughter Joan Renee Smith, of Chambersburg, PA, sons John R. Roman, of Chambersburg, PA, Charles W. Roman, of Chambersburg, PA, Randall L. Roman, of Chambersburg, PA, sisters Patricia  Ann Cambell and  Susan Hewston Ford.  He is also survived by  five grandchildren Jenna, Kelsy, Skyler, Seajay, Abby and four great grandchildren Oliver, Stephania, Wynn Rose and Marley. In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by first wife, Beverly Roman.

     Funeral services will be held at the Sideling Hill Christian Church, Needmore, PA, at 12:00 PM on Monday, July 11th,  with Pastor William Swope officiating.  There will be one hour of visitation held prior to the service at the church on Monday. 

     Interment will be at Sideling Hill Christian Cemetery Needmore, PA.  Military honors will be conducted by the Fulton Honor Guard.
