Catherine E. DeShong

  Catherine E. DeShong, 92, of McConnellsburg, PA passed away Saturday, December 1st, 2018 at Fulton County Medical Center, McConnellsburg, PA.

     Catherine was born in McConnellsburg, PA on August 8, 1926, the daughter of the late Lucinda (Alexander) and Benjamin C. Buterbaugh.  She was the widow of Daniel Mosser DeShong.

     She was of the christian faith but loved the church and also was a  homemaker.  Catherine loved the Fulton County Senior Center and her center family Leonard Thomas and Tony Spriggs.  She also loved her lemon pies from George Cutchall at the VFW, music, dancing and spending time with her family.

     Mrs. DeShong is survived by son Dennis L. (husband of Peggy) Rhoades, of Greencastle, PA, daughters Diane K. (wife of David) Lochte, of McConnellsburg, PA, Lucy M. (wife of Franklin) Lynch, of McConnellsburg, PA, Bonnie L. (wife of Dennis) Lynch, of McConnellsburg, PA, son Thomas R. (husband of Cheryl) DeShong, of Hustontown, PA, twenty-three grandchildren, forty-three great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by former husband Ephraim B. Rhoades, Jr., daughters Betty Jo (wife of George) Lynch, Cathy (wife of Mark) Seville, son Roy Rhoades, sisters Shirley Edwards, Betty Carbaugh, brothers Leon, Robert, George, Harold, Scott, Jack, Charles and Donald Buterbaugh, son-in-law Charles W. Burkett, Jr. and grandson Sherwin "Bull" Lynch.

     Visitation will be Wednesday, December 5th, 2018 from 2 to 8 PM   at Howard L. Sipes Funeral Home, Inc., McConnellsburg, PA.  There will also be visitation one hour before the service on Thursday at the funeral home.

     Religious Service at Howard L. Sipes Funeral Home, Inc., McConnellsburg, PA at 11:00 AM on Thursday, December 6th, 2018  with Pastor William Swope officiating.

     Interment at Union Cemetery, McConnellsburg, PA.

     In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Fulton County Senior Center, 100 Woodside Drive, McConnellsburg, PA 17233.
