Arlene P. Nesbitt

Arlene P. Nesbitt, 91, of McConnellsburg, PA passed away Friday, July 3rd, 2020 at her home, surrounded by her loving family.

     Arlene was born in McConnellsburg, PA on November 29, 1928, the daughter of the late Lois (Ott ) and G. Maynard "Whitey" Paylor.  She was the widow of C. William "Bill"  Nesbitt, whom she married on March 27, 1954.  He preceded her in death on November 2, 2016.

     Mrs. Nesbitt was a 1947 graduate of McConnellsburg High School, was a member of the McConnellsburg United Methodist Church for over fifty years, a 4-H leader for many years and was elected in 1961 as Ayr Township Tax Collector  and retired in 2009.  Arlene was also an avid quilter, winning many awards at the Fulton Fall Folk Festival, where she was a past featured quilter of the festival.  Mrs. Nesbitt enjoyed spending time with her family and cooking for them.

     She is survived by daughters Sue  Ellen Nesbitt, of York, PA, Nancy Cordell , of McConnellsburg, PA, brother Carl Paylor, of Hagerstown, MD, sister Sherry Paylor, of Camp Hill, PA, sister-in-law Beulah Paylor, of McConnellsburg, PA.  She is also survived by three grandchildren Paul (husband of Nicole) Wilson, Ellen (wife of Matthew) Harbold, Kelli (wife of Justin) Miller, two step-grandchildren William (husband of Vanessa) Cordell, Matthew Cordell, one great granddaughter Mikaela Wilson, three step-great grandchildren Kaleb, Madilynne and Colton Cordell.  Arlene was preceded in death by brother Eston Paylor, sisters JoAnne Harr, Polly Paylor and son-in-law Larry Cordell.

     Graveside services will be Tuesday, July 7th, 2020 at 10:00 AM at Union Cemetery, McConnellsburg, PA with Pastor Joshua Davinsizer officiating.  If attending, please bring a lawn chair.

     In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the McConnellsburg United Methodist Church, 121 North 2nd Street, McConnellsburg, PA  17233.
