Winifred M. Deshong

Winifred M. DeShong, 84, of McConnellsburg, PA passed away Sunday, September 4th, 2016 at the Fulton County Medical Center, McConnellsburg, PA Winifred was born in Orbisonia, PA on November 12, 1931, the daughter of the late Marie O. (Cook) and William H.  Ulsh.  She was the widow of Jack A. DeShong, Sr. whom she married on January 4, 1952 and he passed away on October 18, 2015. She attended Clayton Memorial Church in Mercersburg, PA and worked at various restaurants in her younger years.  Winifred then worked at Sagner, Inc. in McConnellslburg, PA for twenty years and at the Stanley Corp. in Chambersburg, PA for three years.  Mrs. DeShong also enjoyed sewing and quilting. Winifred is survived by daughter Lucinda M. (companion Eddie Thomas) Clingerman of Frederick, MD, son Jack A. (husband of Teressa) DeShong, Jr. of McConnellsburg, PA, sister Izetta Wright of Waynesboro, PA, five grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.  Preceded in death by sister Arminda Strait, infant sister Goldie Ulsh, brothers Gilbert and Richard Ulsh and one infant brother. Religious Service at Howard L. Sipes Funeral Home, Inc., McConnellsburg, PA at 1:00 PM on Thursday, September 8th, 2016  with Pastor John Bennett officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday, September 7th, 2016 from 5 to 8 PM at Howard L. Sipes Funeral Home, Inc., McConnellsburg, PA.  There will also be visitation one hour before the service on Thursday at the funeral home. Interment at Center United Methodist Cemetery, Waterfall, PA.
