William S. "Short" Hendershot, 90, of McConnellsburg, PA passed away Sunday, February 7th, 2016 at Fulton County Medical Center, McConnellsburg, PA
Short was born in Ayr Township, PA on August 14, 1925, the son of the late Susan Viola "Dot" (Souders) and J. William Hendershot. He was the husband of Teosima "Emma" (Cesa) Hendershot whom he married on June 1, 2007.
Mr. Hendershot served in the U.S. Navy as an AMM2c, V6 in WW II, attended Calvary Independent Baptist Church in McConnellsburg, PA and also was active in the Cito United Methodist Church in various leader positions. Short was a member of the VFW Post #655 in McConnellsburg, PA, the American Legion Post #561 in McConnellsburg, PA and the NRA. He was a retired truck driver from Carolina Freight, a farmer all his life, was a former Ayr Township Supervisor and Constable and also drove school bus. Short liked playing music, flying his airplane, snowmobile riding, horses and spending time with his family.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by daughter Teresa C. (wife of Allen) Brown of McConnellsburg, PA, son James C. (husband of Cindy) Hendershot of McConnellsburg, PA, sisters Berenice Reasner of Chambersburg, PA, Ruth Frank of Chambersburg, PA, Dottie (wife of Daryl) Mellott of Chambersburg, PA, Sally Beatty (wife of Harry Lee) Garland of Needmore, PA, brothers Harry Edward (husband of Coletta) Hendershot of McConnellsburg, PA, John (husband of Faye) Hendershot of Mercersburg, PA, two granddaughters, two grandsons, four great granddaughters, four great grandsons and two step-grandsons. Preceded in death by infant daughter Deborah J. Hendershot, sister Laura Rockwell, brother Gary Hendershot, grandson Phillip Mellott and former wife Clara Jean Garland.
Religious Service at Howard L. Sipes Funeral Home, Inc., McConnellsburg, PA at 11:00 AM on Thursday, February 11th, 2016 with Pastor John Hodge officiating.
Visitation will be Thursday, February 11th, 2016 from 9 to 11 AM at Howard L. Sipes Funeral Home, Inc., McConnellsburg, PA.
Interment at Union Cemetery, McConnellsburg, PA.
