William "Ray" Recard, Jr.

William "Ray" Recard, Jr., 90, of McConnellsburg, PA and formerly of Hanover, PA, passed away Saturday, October 27th, at Brookview at Menno Haven, Chambersburg, PA.

Ray was born in Fairfield, PA on March 29, 1928, a son of the late Myrtle C. (Alexander) and William Ray Recard, Sr.  He was the husband of Rosemary E. (Carl) Recard of McConnellsburg, PA.

Ray served in the U.S. Army in the Korean War.   He was a member of the American Legion Post #561 in McConnellsburg, PA and the Pennsylvania Rangers which are a search and rescue team.  Ray was Vice President of Manufacturing at Sylvania Shoe Company in McSherrystown, PA for thirty-three years until retiring.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodworking and raising horses.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter Melanie Rae (wife of Marty) Mitchell, of Hanover, PA, step-sons Christian C. (husband of Teresa) Spevak, of Kentucky, Adrian T. (husband of Kirsten) Spevak, of Texas, grandson Eric (husband of Olivia) Mitchell, of Hanover, PA and  four step-grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his first wife Frances C. Recard in 2001, sister Lillian Marshall and brother Harold Recard.

There will be a memorial service held on Saturday, November 10, 2018 at 11:00 AM at the Sideling Hill Christian Church, Needmore, PA with Pastor Bill Swope officiating.  There will one hour of visitation held prior to the service at the church.

Military honors will be conducted by the Fulton Honor Guard.

Interment private at convenience of the family.
