William C. "Bill" Burkett

William C. "Bill" Burkett, 93, of Warfordsburg, PA, passed away Friday, June 2nd, at the Fulton County Medical Center Long Term Care Center, McConnellsburg, PA.

Bill was born in South Fork, PA on October 1, 1929.  He was raised as a foster child by the late Delanie and Delemer Oakman of the Buck Valley area.  He was the widower of Goldie  Faye "Dolly" (Cromwell) Burkett, whom he married on April 29, 1951.  She preceded him in death on February 1, 1999.

Bill served in the United States Army from 1954 to 1956.  He attended the Pleasant Ridge Church of the Brethren in  Needmore, PA.  In his younger years he worked for McCray's Building & Supply in Warfordsburg, PA. After twenty years of service, he retired from Mack Truck in Hagerstown, MD in June, 2000.

He is survived by a half sister Jean  Gockley, of Reinholds, PA, nephew Brian Cromwell, of McConnellsburg, PA, nieces Kathy Cromwell, of Hagerstown, MD, Rebecca Torres of Albuquerque, NM and sister-in-law Mary Cromwell, of Needmore, PA.  In addition to his foster parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a son Thomas W. Burkett.

Funeral services will be held at the Howard L. Sipes Funeral Home, Inc., McConnellsburg, PA, at 12:00 PM on Wednesday, June 7, 2023  with Pastor Dick Bernhard officiating.  There will one hour of visitation held prior to the service on Wednesday at the funeral home.

Interment will be at the Pleasant Ridge Brethren Cemetery Needmore, PA.
