William R. Anderson, Sr.

William R. Anderson, Sr., 81, of Greencastle, PA, and formerly of New Grenada, PA, passed away Tuesday, May 12th, at the Chambersburg Hospital, Chambersburg, PA. William was born in Laidig, PA on August 19, 1933, a son of the late Mabel R. (Laidig) and William P. Anderson. He was the husband of Betty R. (Mumma) Anderson of Greencastle, PA. They were married on May 9, 1953. They just celebrated their 62nd anniversary. He was a member of First Assembly of God Church in Greencastle, PA.  William retired from Mack Truck in Hagerstown, MD.  In his earlier years, he worked at the Sideling Hill Plaza for the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commision.  He was a past member of the Odd Fellows in New Grenada, PA.  He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and cars. In addition to his wife he is survived by his son William  R. (husband of Carol E.) Anderson, Jr., of Greencastle, PA and daughter Doris J. (wife of Harold T. Loftis, Jr.), of Greensboro, NC.  He is also survived by eight grandchildren and four great grandchildren.  He was  preceded in death by a daughter Debra R. Clites. Religious Service will be held at the Howard L. Sipes Funeral Home Inc., McConnellsburg, PA, at 11 AM on Saturday, May 16th,  with Pastor Gregory Sinclair officiating. Visitation will be Friday, May 15th from 6 PM to 8 PM. at the Howard L. Sipes Funeral Home, Inc. 873 Lincoln Way East  McConnellsburg, PA 17233.  There will also be one hour of visitation held before the service on Saturday at the funeral home.
