Wayne H. Crouse Sr.

Wayne H. Crouse, Sr., 87, formerly of Big Cove Tannery, PA, passed away Saturday, October 12, 2013, at the Shook Home, Chambersburg, PA. Wayne was born in Big Cove Tannery, PA, on April 3, 1926, the son of the late Maynard O. and Lily H. (Houpt) Crouse.  He was the husband of Virginia G. (Cutshall) Crouse, whom he married on December 21, 1943. In his earlier years, Wayne had a trucking companythat hauled stone for the Pennsylvania Turnpike when it was being constructed in the late 1940's and early 1950's. He was a farmer and a Missile Technician at Letterkenny Army Depot in Chambersburg, PA. He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Big Cove Tannery, PA, the Mt. Zion Masonic Lodge# 774, McConnellsburg, PA, Harrisburg Consistory, and Disabled AmericanVeterans.  He served in the Army Air Corps during WWII. Wayne loved hunting and fishing until he was physically unable to do it anymore. In addition to his wife, he is survived by daughter Judith G. Crouse of Greencastle, PA, and son Wayne H. Crouse, Jr. (husband of Barbara) of Lebanon, PA.  He is also survived by a grandson Attorney Jacob W. Crouse and his wife Attorney Kelly Crouse of Louisville,KY.  He was preceded in death by three sisters Alda Asser, JeanTaylor, Reba Chaplinsky and a brother Carl Crouse. Funeral services will be held at Howard L. Sipes Funeral Home Inc., 873 Lincoln Way East, McConnellsburg, PA 17233, at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, October 15, 2013, withPastor Neil Ray officiating.  There will be a visitation held one hour before the service at the funeral home. Interment at Union Cemetery,  McConnellsburg, PA.
