Walter E. "Bud" McKinley, 89, of Needmore, PA and formerly of Hancock, MD passed away Monday, December 3rd, 2012 at his residence.
Walter was born in Everett, PA on October 24, 1923, the son of the late Verona (Clark) Golden. He was the husband of Goldie H. (Kline) McKinley whom he married in 1946.
Mr. McKinley served in the U.S. Army Air Corps as a Pvt in WW II, was a member of the Pleasant Ridge Church of the Brethren, Needmore, PA, was a co-founder of the Needmore Volunteer Fire Company, was involved with the Needmore Boy Scout Troop 45 for fifty-five years, was a member of the American Legion Post #0612 in St. Thomas, PA, was an avid sportsman and worked at the Letterkenny Army Depot in Chambersburg, PA as a shop supervisor for thirty-three years upon retiring.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by Son Bob (husband of Judy) McKinley of Westmoreland County, PA, Brother Paul "Pete" Golden of Hancock, MD, Sister Betty Knable of Needmore, PA, Grandchildren Heather (wife of Donald) Grove of Tennessee, Rob (husband of Allison) McKinley of Pittsburgh, PA, Katie McKinley of Westmoreland County, PA, Patrick McKinley of Erie, PA, great grandchildren Liam, Gabby, Donovann, Anna, Duncan and Riley. Preceded in death by brothers Jim and John Golden, sisters Ruth Unger and Catherine Clingerman.
Religious Service at Howard L. Sipes Funeral Home, Inc., McConnellsburg, PA, at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, December 6th, 2012 with Pastor Roger Truax officiating.
Interment at Pleasant Ridge Church of the Brethren Cemetery, Needmore, PA.
There will be visitation on Wednesday, December 5th, 2012 from 2 to 8 P.M. at Howard L. Sipes Funeral Home, Inc., McConnellsburg, PA. There will also be visitation one hour before the service on Thursday at the funeral home.
