Verda L. Schue-Hockensmith, 90, of Big Cove Tannery, PA, passed away Friday, September 27, 2024, in Chambersburg, PA. Verda was born in Big Cove Tannery, PA, on August 16, 1934, a daughter of the late Charles H. and Maude E.(Mellott) Culler. She was the wife of forty-four years, of the late Clyde J. Schue, who she married on December 22, 1956. He preceded her in death on October 17, 2001. She was a graduate of Millersville University, which she obtained a Bachelors Degree before attending Penn State to earn her Masters Degree. Later, she then became a fifth grade teacher at Littlestown, PA. Verda was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR), which she was very proud of. She was also a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the VFW, Ladies Auxiliary of the American Legion, Penn State Alumni Association and life time member of the Fulton-Franklin Chapter of the Pennsylvania State Education Association. Verda had many hobbies, such as reading non-fiction books, collecting antiques, making crafts, and traveling. She is survived by her son Lindsey (husband of Carol) Schue, of Needmore, PA. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Seneca and Sierra Schue. She was preceded in death by her second husband, of twelve years, Richard "Dick" Hockensmith. Funeral services will be held at the Howard L. Sipes Funeral Home Inc., McConnellsburg, PA, at 11:00 A.M on Tuesday, October 8, 2024, with Pastor Frank Kocek officiating. There will be one hour of visitation held prior to the service at the funeral home on Tuesday. Interment will be at Rest Haven Cemetery, Hanover, PA 17331. Arrangements were made by the Howard L.
