Velma M. (Mellott) Leese

Velma M. Leese, 80, of Timber Ridge Rd. Needmore, PA, died, Wednesday, June 22nd, 2011 at her residence. Velma was born in Needmore, PA on January 18, 1931, the daughter of the late Webster A. and Ethel (Mellott) Mellott.  She was the widow of Vernon B. Leese, whom she married on July 28, 1948.  He preceded her in death on May 1, 2006. She was a member of Pleasant Ridge Church of the Brethren Needmore, PA .  She worked as a housewife, farmer, sale clerk, and a quilter.  She was also a member of the Fulton County Quilt Club.  Velma loved hunting, gardening, and spending time with her family. She is survived by her 8 children; son Ricky A. Leese, husband of Marji of Needmore, PA., son Vernon "Gene" Leese, husband of Barb of McConnellsburg, PA., daughter Judith L. Schriver, wife of Marlin of Harrisonville, PA., son Daniel M. Leese of China and Jeanne Marie Leese of York, PA., son Loren R. Leese, husband of Deb of McConnellsburg, PA., son Wendell K.  Leese of Martinsburg, WV., son Charles W. Leese, husband of Teresa of Needmore, PA., and son Joseph S. Leese of Needmore, PA.  She is also survived by 18 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by a sister Lorna Gailey and a step great grandson. Religious Service will be held at the Pleasant Ridge Church of the Brethren, Needmore, PA, at 2:00 PM on Sunday, June 26th,  with Rev. Roger Truax and Pastor Mac Miller officiating. Interment will be at Pleasant Ridge Church of the Brethren Cemetery Needmore, PA. There will be visitation on Saturday, June 25th from 2 PM to 8 PM with the family receiving friends from 6 PM to 8 PM.   at Howard L. Sipes Funeral Home, Inc., McConnellsburg, PA.
