Timothy M. "Mike" Deshong

Timothy  M. "Mike" DeShong, 68, of McConnellsburg, PA, passed away Saturday, September 25th, at his residence.

Mike  was born in McConnellsburg, PA on September 30, 1952, a son of the late Mary A. (Harford) and Thomas A. DeShong.

He served in the United States Marine Corp for twenty two years as a Master Sergeant, serving with the Combat Engineers.  After retiring from the Marines in 1993, Mike worked for various contractors locally doing construction and electrical jobs.  He also worked for H.B. Mellott Estate Inc. for a short time.  Mike was a member of the Asbury United Methodist Church in Harrisonville, PA.  He was also a member and actively involved in  the VFW Post 655, McConnellsburg, PA, the American Legion Post 561, McConnellsburg, PA and the Fulton Honor Guard where he served as past Captain.  In his younger years, Mike enjoyed skiing and golfing.

He is survived by his sons David Michael DeShong of Swansboro, NC, Christopher Wayne DeShong of Raleigh, NC, brothers Thomas E. "Ed" DeShong of McConnellsburg, PA, John  D. (husband of Linda) DeShong of McConnellsburg, PA and Darrell C. (husband of Debbie) DeShong of Jacksonville, NC.  Timothy  is also survived by three grandchildren Noah Ray Williams, Hayden Elizabeth DeShong and Ethan James DeShong.  He was preceded in death by brothers James R. DeShong and Phillip Lee DeShong.

A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date.  Internment will be private at the  convenience of the family.
