Thomas "Pap" C. Abbott Sr., 79, of McConnellsburg, PA, passed away on Monday, May 4, 2026, in the comfort of his residence. 

Tom was born on August 4, 1946, in McConnellsburg, PA. He was the son of the late Charles L. and Ruth I. (Mellott) Abbott. He was the widower of Patricia E. (Betts) Abbott, who he married on October 3, 1970. She preceded him in death on July 6, 2022.

Tom attended Calvary Independence Baptist Church. He wants to be remembered as an honest and good man who proudly served his country, a loving husband, and a devoted, caring father. He found great joy in hunting, fishing, and fast cars. He especially cherished time spent with his family, whether it was playing Farkle together, shopping, or going out to eat, especially Texas Roadhouse.

He is survived by his children, Thomas C. Abbott Jr. of McConnellsburg, PA; Tracy L. (husband of Jackie) Abbott of McConnellsburg, PA; and Tammy E. (wife of Todd) Hege of Mercersburg, PA. He is also survived by his sisters, Kay Flanagan of Pittsburgh, PA, and Denise Starr of McConnellsburg, PA; his grandchildren, Angel, Kevin Jr., Jessica, Kylie, Michael, Donovan, Asmara, Payton, Logan, Ethan, Brayden, Thomas lll, and Caleb; and his great-grandchildren, Ariya, Owen, Adaline, Ellie, and Dexter. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his son, Travis D. Abbott and his sister Pearl Nichols.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Howard L. Sipes Funeral Home Inc., McConnellsburg, PA. 

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, May 14, 2026 at the Howard L. Sipes Funeral Home Inc., McConnellsburg, PA, with Pastor Tim York officiating. There will be one hour of visitation held prior to the service on Thursday. Interment will be at Union Cemetery, McConnellsburg, PA. 

Military honors will be conducted by the Fulton Honor Guard.
