Sylvia M. Wertz

Sylvia M. Wertz, 78, of  Needmore, PA, died Saturday, March 12th, 2011 at the Fulton County Medical Center, McConnellsburg, PA. Sylvia was born in Belfast Twp., Pa on November 25, 1932, the daughter of the late Oscar P.  and Claire Virginia (Reed) Mellott. She was the widow of Ray H. Wertz, whom she married on December 31, 1950.  He preceded her in death on August 9, 2008. She attended the Sideling Hill Christian Church Needmore, PA . Sylvia was a member of the Needmore Volunteer Fire Company Ladies Auxillary and the Green Hill Sewing Club.  She worked as a Dietary worker at the Fulton County Medical Center McConnellsburg, PA., before retiring in 2000. Surviving are her son Lee H.  Wertz of Needmore, PA, daughter Kathy D.  Truax of Warfordsburg, PA, son Marlin G. Wertz of Needmore, PA, daughter Dixie S. Bishop of Needmore, PA, son David A.  Wertz of Needmore, PA, brother Paul  N. Mellott of McConnellsburg, PA, and brother Willis A. Mellott of Needmore, PA. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by a brother Maynard Mellott. Religious Service will be held at Howard L. Sipes Funeral Home Inc.,McConnellsburg, PA, at 11:00 AM. on Thursday, March 17th,  with Rev. William Swope and Pastor Dick Bernhard officiating. Interment at Union Cemetery McConnellsburg, PA. There will be visitation on Wednesday, March 16 at the Howard L. Sipes Funeral Home Inc., McConnellsburg, PA from 2 to 8 PM. with the family receiving friends from 6 to 8 PM. There will also be one hour of visitation before the service at the funeral home.
