Samuel H. Buterbaugh

Samuel H. Buterbaugh, 79, of McConnellsburg, PA passed away Saturday, November 8th, 2014 at Fulton County Medical Center, McConnellsburg,  PA. Samuel was born in Ayr Township, Fulton County, PA on October 16, 1935, the son of the late Evelyn (Mellott) and Melvin Arthur Buterbaugh. Sam was a member of the Pentecostal Full Gospel Church in McConnellsburg, PA until it closed.  He then attended the Evangel Assembly of God Church in McConnellsburg, PA. He has been a director of Union Cemetery, McConnellsburg, PA since 1968 and is a director of The Friends of Tonoloway Primitive Baptist Church. Mr. Buterbaugh is a member of The Brethren in Christ Historical Society, The Truax Family Association, The Pennsylvania German Society and a former member ot The Fellowship of Brethren Geneologists.  Sam was an amature geneologist for Fulton County and authored The Family of David and Elizabeth Hege Buterbaugh . He was known as a Fulton County historian and authored Sideling Hill Primitive Baptist History , a book on marriages and deaths in Fulton County, Memories of the early years of the McConnellsburg Pentecostal Full Gospel Church as well as contributing to many articles for the Fulton County Historical Society. Sam liked doing woodwork, especially repairing antiques and he loved gardening. He is survived by  his Sister Joyce (wife of Jim) Thomas of Chambersburg, PA and Brother Marvin L. (husband of Peggy) Buterbaugh of Linville, VA.  Preceded in death by brother Charles LeRoy Buterbaugh. Religious Service at Evangel Assembly of God Church, McConnellsburg, PA, at 10:30 AM on Tuesday, November 11th,  2014 with Pastor William McCommons and Pastor Keith Clugston officiating. Visitation will be Monday, November 10th, 2014 from 3 to 8 PM. at Evangel Assembly of God Church, McConnellsburg, PA.  There will also be visitation one hour before the service on Tuesday at the church.
