Ruth E. Swope

Ruth E. Swope, 79, of Harrisonville, PA passed away Monday, May 15th, 2017 at her residence. Ruth was born in Needmore, PA on November 13, 1937, the daughter of the late Goldie (DeShong) Keebaugh Truax and John E. Keebaugh.  She was the wife of M. Cloyd  Swope whom she married on January 19, 1956. Mrs. Swope was a member of the Sideling Hill Christian Church in Needmore, PA where she went in her younger years and then she started attending the Pleasant Ridge Nazarene Church in Harrisonville, PA.  She was a nurse at the Decker Nursing Home and then went to the Fulton County Medical Center where she retired from working in the E.R.  Ruth also was a homemaker. In addition to her husband, she is survived by sons M. Cloyd (husband of Ellen Marie) Swope, Jr. of Harrisonville, PA, Walter (husband of Rhonda) Swope of Harrisonville, PA, Greg (husband of Deborah) Swope of McConnellsburg, PA, Andy (companion Cindy Booth) Swope of Warfordsburg, PA, daughter Debbie (wife of Tony) DeShong of Harrisonville, PA, sister Diane (wife of Ronnie) Englert of Harrisonville, PA, brother Eugene Keebaugh of McConnellsburg, PA, twenty- one grandchildren and twenty-four great grandchildren.  Preceded in death by son Michael G. Swope, sister Joan Swope and granddaughter Angela Molchan. Religious Service at Pleasant Ridge Nazarene Church, Harrisonville, PA at 11:00 AM on Thursday, May 18th, 2017  with Pastor Mark Smith, Pastor William Swope and Pastor Willis Swope officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday, May 17th, 2017 from 2 to 8 PM at Howard L. Sipes Funeral Home, Inc., McConnellsburg, PA.  There will also be visitation one hour before the service on Thursday at the church. Interment at Pleasant Ridge Nazarene Cemetery, Harrisonville, PA. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Pleasant Ridge Nazarene Cemetery Association in care of Donna Gress, 792 Lick Hollow Road, Harrisonville, PA 17228.
