Ruth
Bain
Jun 1, 1919 — Jun 19, 2026
Ruth Bain, daughter of Charles and Georgia Jane (Lauver) Crouse went to be with Jesus at age 107, on June 19, 2026 at FCMC Long Term Care Unit, McConnellsburg, PA.
She was born in Big Cove Tannery and lived there all her life. She attributed her long life to hard work and strong coffee.
Ruth was the devoted wife of Harry Bain, who passed away in 2008. They shared 70 years of married life together. They had three children, the late Harry E. Bain (Elanor), Judy L. Howery (Ron), and Stanley T. Bain (Linda). They had four grandchildren, Brian (Jackie), Monica Riggins, Kasi Boyer (Jon), and Erin Mills (Marshall), and five great grandchildren, Nick Riggins, Sarah Bain, Landon and Lilian Boyer, and Camden Mills. She loved her family beyond measure, and everyone loved to go home for Sunday dinner. You could always count on more than one dessert. She tried to please everyone.
Ruth loved the outdoors and all things of nature - birds, flowers, and her favorite maple tree. She lived through three lifetimes of work growing a large vegetable garden and taking care of the cow, the pigs and chickens that fed her family from year to year. She had a wonderful sense of humor and enjoyed a good laugh. She also had no problem picking up her 22 rifle and shooting a snake!
Ruth was preceded in death by four brothers, Charles, George, Frank and Walter (Ab), and eight sisters, Elizabeth Keyser, Blanche Overcash, Alice Mellott, Ethel Kriner, May McKee, Helen Peck, Ann Mellott and Olive Clever.
Ruth wrote many wonderful poems and eulogies for family and friends. She liked music, reading the Bible, and watching CBN. She loved people and prayed always for her family, friends, pastors and missionaries. She attended Laurel Ridge Christian Church and taught Sunday School. She always wanted to share the love of Jesus with others and make sure they knew the road to heaven (John 3:16). Her main goal in life was to pray that others would know Jesus. Are you listening? Ruth wants to see you at the "Golden Gate." We think that's why God left her here on earth so long. Don't disappoint her.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Laurel Ridge Christian Church or The Billy Graham Evangelistic Association.
The family will have a celebration of life at a later date.
Arrangements were made by the Howard L. Sipes Funeral Home Inc., McConnellsburg, PA. Online condolences may be expressed at www.howardlsipes.com.
