Robert "Bob" K. Stevens Sr., 76, of Needmore, PA, passed away Sunday, October 20th, 2013 at his residence.
Bob was born in Belfast Twp., Fulton County, PA on August 4, 1937, the son of the late Charles R. and Mildred P. (Carnell) Stevens. He was the husband of Verna M. (Shank) Stevens, whom he married on September 1, 1961.
He was a member of Pleasant Ridge Church of the Brethren Needmore, PA. In his younger years Bob worked for the Mellott family logging timber. He also served with the Army National Guard, in a Tank Battalion for 8 years. He later went on to work for the Pennsylvania Turnpike as an Equipment Supervisor. Bob was a very skilled, self taught mechanic and carpenter. Over the years, from his shop located on Timber Ridge, many people benefited from his workmanship and knowledge. There wasn't anything that Bob could not build or repair and he always loved the challange.
In addition to his wife he is survived by his daughter Donna J. Hull (Fiancée of Rex Divelbliss) of Hancock, MD, son Robert "Rob" K. Stevens Jr.(Husband of Lacie) of Needmore, PA, sister Mary Mellott of Baltimore, MD, and sister Daisy Stelk of Montgomery, AL. He is also survived by 3 grandchildren; Dustin Hull of Hagerstown, MD, Jenna Hull of Hancock, MD and Wyatt Stevens of Needmore, PA. He was preceded in death by a sister Goldie Collins
Funeral services will be held at the Pleasant Ridge Church of the Brethren, Needmore, PA, at 11:00 AM on Thursday, October 24th, with Pastor Roger Truax officiating.
Interment at Pleasant Ridge Church of the Brethren Cemetery Needmore, PA.
There will be visitation held on Wednesday, October 23, 2013 from 2 PM to 8 PM, with the family receiving friends from 6 PM to 8 PM, at the Howard L. Sipes Funeral Home, Inc., 873 Lincoln Way East McConnellsburg, PA 17233. There will also be visitation held one hour before the service at the church on Thursday.
Military honors will be conducted by the Fulton Honor Gard.
