Richard "Dick" Ramsey

Richard "Dick" Thomas Ramsey, 75, of Harrisonville, PA passed away Saturday, April 14th, 2012 at his residence. Richard was born in Clear Ridge, PA on January 2, 1937, the son of the late John W. and Gladys I. (Fleming) Ramsey.  He was the husband of Betty  (DeShong) Ramsey whom he married on February 23, 1963. Mr. Ramsey graduated from the McConnellsburg High School in the class of 1955, served in the United States Army Reserves, attended the Sideling Hill Christian Church, Needmore, PA, was a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers Local #66, the VFW Post #6241, Mercersburg, PA, the Meadow Ground Hunting Club and a life-time member of the McConnellsburg Volunteer Fire Company. Richard worked as a heavy equipment operator all his life.  He worked for years with the Local Union #66 and retired in 2000 from P&W Excavating.  Mr. Ramsey enjoyed hunting, being around his family and his dogs. In addition to his wife, he is survived by Son Eugene "Tom" (husband of Julie) Ramsey of Harrisonville, PA, Daughter Michele (wife of Thad) O'Neal of Harrisonville, PA, Grandsons Michael (husband of Holly) Stains, Ryan (husband of Bethany) Ramsey, Dustin "Pee Wee" Stains, Granddaughters Megan (wife of Scott) Earley, Kelsey Ramsey, Great Granddaughters MacKinlay Ramsey, Kristin Hawbaker, Great Grandson Chance Hawbaker, Sister Evelyn Zeger of McConnellsburg, PA, Brother Robert "Bob" Ramsey of McConnellsburg, PA and several nieces and nephews.  Preceded in death by brother Carl Ramsey. A Memorial Service will be held at the Sideling Hill Christian Church, Needmore, PA, at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, April 21st, 2012  with Pastor William Swope officiating. Interment at Sideling Hill Christian Cemetery, Needmore, PA. There will be visitation on Tuesday, April 17th, 2012 from 2 P.M. to 8 P.M. at Howard L. Sipes Funeral Home, Inc., McConnellsburg, PA. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Sideling Hill Christian Church Building Fund, 10424 Sipes Mill Road, Needmore, PA 17238.
