Richard "Dick" G. Bard

Richard "Dick" G. Bard, 74, of Harrisonville, PA, passed away Tuesday, May 13, 2025, at his residence.

Dick was born on September 6, 1950, in Chambersburg, PA. He was the son of the late Lee and Edna Arvilla (Decker) Bard. He was the husband of Patti J. (Souders) Bard, who he married on November 3, 1973.

Dick graduated from McConnellsburg High School in 1968, before attending and graduating from Williamsport Trade School. He also served in the Army National Guard. In his early years, he worked as a carpenter and a mason, working at Fulton Builders, McConnellsburg, PA before taking over the family farm in 1975. He worked on the family farm till retiring in 2016. He was a member of the Sideling Hill Christian Church, where he served as the Sunday School Superintendent for many years. He also participated in the Bible Release Program. Dick enjoyed going for rides on the country roads, looking for wildlife, hunting, farming, carpentry and spending time with his wife.

In addition to his wife, he is also survived by three sisters; Donna Gordon, of Needmore, PA, Joan Lamberson, of York, PA and Pat Hutchison, of IN. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. He was preceded in death by a sister; Normalee Anderson.

A visitation will be held Tuesday, May 20, 2025, from 6:00 PM- 8:00 PM at the Howard L. Sipes Funeral Home Inc., McConnellsburg, PA.

Funeral services will be held at the Sideling Hill Christian Church, Needmore, PA, at 11:00 AM , on Wednesday, May 21, 2025 with Pastor Bill Swope officiating. There will also be one hour of visitation held prior to the service on Wednesday. Interment will be at Sideling Hill Christian Cemetery, Needmore, PA.

Military honors will be conducted by the Fulton Honor Guard.
