Richard M. "Dick" Mellott

Richard M. "Dick" Mellott, 92, of Needmore, PA passed away Tuesday, October 4th, 2016 at Falling Spring Nursing Nursing Home, Chambersburg, PA. Dick was born in Needmore, PA on July 17, 1924, the son of the late Jessie M. (Truax) and Rowe C. Mellott.  He was the husband of Estella L. (Mellott) Mellott whom he married on May 13, 1944. He was a member of the Needmore Bible Church in Needmore, PA, a charter member of the Needmore Volunteer Fire Company and was a sawyer all his life at Mellott Brothers Lumber.  Dick enjoyed coon hunting in his younger years, gardening and his family. In addition to his wife, he is survived by daughter Carol A. (wife of Percy) Rock of Greencastle, PA, sons Richard W. Mellott of McConnellsburg, PA, Bobby T. (husband of Betty) Mellott of Warfordsburg, PA, sister Evelyn (wife of Herb) Theis of Georgetown, TX, brothers Paul R. (husband of Betty) Mellott of St. Thomas, PA, Earl J. (husband of Mary Jane) Mellott of Mercersburg, PA, grandchildren Megin (wife of Chet) Feagley of McConnellsburg, PA, Wendy (wife of Bill) Shope of Lebanon, PA, Misty (wife of Wade) Williams of Everett, PA, great grandchildren Darry Chilcote, Brooklyn Khore, Kinzey Williams and Storm  Williams.  Preceded in death by sisters Pauline Stahl, Madeline Humbert, brothers King, Fred, Grover, Norm, Clair, Charles and infant brother Carl Mellott. Religious Service at Needmore Bible Church, Needmore, PA, at 11:00 AM on Monday, October 10th, 2016  with Pastor Doug Poffenberger and Pastor Aaron Meredith officiating. Visitation will be Sunday, October 9th, 2016 from 6 to 8 PM   at Howard L. Sipes Funeral Home, Inc., McConnellsburg, PA.  There will also be visitation one hour before the service on Monday at the church. Interment at Needmore Bible Church Cemetery, Needmore, PA.
