Rhoda L. Sowers

Rhoda Lenora Sowers, 87, of McConnellsburg, PA passed away Thursday, March 22nd, 2018 at Falling Spring Nursing Home, Chambersburg, PA. Rhoda was born in Laidig, PA on February 18, 1931, the daughter of the late Marjorie (Snyder) and James  Laidig.  She was the widow of George Edward Sowers whom she married on April 9, 1949 and he passed away on January 6, 2006. Mrs. Sowers was a member of the St. Paul's Lutheran Church in McConnellsburg, PA, was a retired clerk from the Dollar General Store in McConnellsburg, PA and also had worked at the G.C. Murphy's Store in McConnellsburg, PA. She is survived by sons George D. Sowers, Ronald J. Sowers and Michael Sowers all  of McConnellsburg, PA, sisters Rosetta Prough of Dillsburg, PA, Bonnie Laidig, of Johnstown PA, six grandchildren and two great grandchildren.  Preceded in death by sister Jean Sherman and brother James M. Laidig. Visitation will be Monday, March 26th, 2018 from 10 to 11 AM   at Howard L. Sipes Funeral Home, Inc., McConnellsburg, PA. Religious Service at Howard L. Sipes Funeral Home, Inc., McConnellsburg, PA at 11:00 AM on Monday, March 26th, 2018  with Pastor Neil Ray officiating. Interment at Union Cemetery, McConnellsburg, PA. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Willing Workers of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 220 N. Third St., McConnellsburg, PA 17233.
