Reuben Brady, 69, of Big Cove Tannery, PA, passed away Thursday, May 29th, 2014 at his residence.
Reuben was born in McConnellsburg, PA on June 18, 1944, the son of the late Leah M. (Mellott) Brady Gordon and Mayford W. Brady. He was the husband of Sharleen J. (Mellott) Brady whom he married on April 17, 1965.
Mr. Brady was a member of the Laurel Ridge Christian Church in Big Cove Tannery, PA where he was a deacon, elder, superintendent, Sunday school teacher and also a board member for the cemetery. In his younger years, he worked for New Enterprise Stone & Lime Co., E.D. Plummer in Hagerstown, MD and Ken Plummer, Jr. Engineering. He retired in February of 2013 from a communication contractor based in St. Louis, MO where he worked throughout the United States, Mexico, Europe and did three tours in Alaska.
Reuben enjoyed woodworking, running his beagles and spending time with his family and grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by Son Brian K. (husband of Joanna) Brady of Big Cove Tannery, PA, Brothers Lamont M. (husband of Alma) Brady of Big Cove Tannery, PA, John K. (husband of Judy) Brady of Big Cove Tannery, PA and three grandchildren. Preceded in death by nephew Ken Brady.
Religious Service at Laurel Ridge Christian Church, Big Cove Tannery, PA, at 2:00 PM on Sunday, June 1st, 2014 with Pastor David Hamilton and Pastor Jerry Roth officiating.
Visitation will be Saturday, May 31st, 2014 from 2 to 8 PM at Howard L. Sipes Funeral Home, Inc., McConnellsburg, PA. There will also be visitation one hour before the service on Sunday at the church.
Interment at Laurel Ridge Christian Cemetery, Big Cove Tannery, PA.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Laurel Ridge Christian Church Building Fund, in care of Sharleen Brady, 2943 Laurel Ridge Road, Big Cove Tannery, PA 17212.
