Renfred P. Mellott

Renfred Paul Mellott (pap), 78, of Needmore, PA passed away Thursday August 27, 2015 at Harrisburg Hospital.  Born July 4, 1937 in Needmore, PA,  he was the son of Austin I. and Gertrude E. Mellott.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers Teddy and Edward Mellott and sister Wanda (Mellott) Carbaugh. He attended Green Hill School in Harrisonville, PA,  served in the Army National Guard as a gunner, retired from Bethlehem Steele in Johnstown, PA and retired from Truck driving in 2010. Pap enjoyed gardening with his Oliver 60 and spending time with his family, especially his 5 great-grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy L. Mellott, whom he married June 24, 1961, daughter Jeanne (Mellott) Welch, wife of Frank T. Minch of Needmore, PA, son Ralph Mellott and wife Nancy Mellott of Tennessee, grandchildren John Welch (and wife Jodi Welch), Karen Welch (and fiancé Stanley Fields), Kevin Welch (and companion Carrie Mellott), Jennifer Mellott, Great-grandchildren Jacob, Jaylon, Izobel, Jaxon and Grayson Welch.  He is also survived by  Jason and Kevin Rhoades which he considered his own.  There were so many people that he loved as his own grand- and great- grandchildren.  He was "pap" to so many. Religious services will be at Howard L. Sipes Funeral Home, Inc., McConnellsburg, PA on Tuesday September 1, 2015 at 11:00 AM with Pastor Willis Swope officiating. Visitation will be Monday, August 31, 2015 from 6 to 8 PM at Howard L. Sipes Funeral Home, Inc., McConnellsburg, PA.  There will also be visitation one hour before the service on Tuesday at the funeral home. Interment will be at his home, 3919 Black Bear Rd, Needmore, PA. Military services will be conducted by the Fulton Honor Guard. Online condolences may be expressed at www.howardlsipes.com.
