Raymond J. Ashley

Raymond J. Ashley, 65, of McConnellsburg, PA passed away Sunday, March 17th, 2013 at Fulton County Medical Center, McConnellsburg, PA. Raymond was born in Durham, NC on August 13, 1947, the son of the late Arthur J. and Lillian (Goss) Ashley.  He was the husband of Alma J. (Sowers) Ashley whom he married on July 9, 1969. Mr. Ashley served in the U.S. Army as a SP4 in the Vietnam War, was a member of the American Legion Post #561 of McConnellsburg, PA, worked at the Mechanicsburg Navy Depot warehouse shipping medical supplies and he also enjoyed playing games. In addition to his wife, he is survived by Daughter Lisa J. Cummins of McConnellsburg, PA, Sons Anthony J. Sowers of McConnellsburg, PA, Tracy J. Ashley of Needmore, PA, Christopher C. Ashley of McConnellsburg, PA, four granddaughters, two grandsons, one step-grandson and one great granddaughter.  Preceded in death by one infant brother. Religious Service at Howard L. Sipes Funeral Home, Inc., McConnellsburg, PA, at 3:00 P.M. on Wednesday, March 20th, 2013  with Pastor William Swope officiating. Interment will be private at the convenience of the Family. There will be visitation on Tuesday, March 19th, 2013 from 2 P.M. to 8 P.M. with the family receiving friends from 5 P.M. to 8 P.M. at Howard L. Sipes Funeral Home, Inc., McConnellsburg, PA.  There will also be visitation one hour before the service on Wednesday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, Franklin & Fulton Unit, 384 Floral Avenue, Chambersburg, PA 17201.
