R. Boyd Deshong

R. Boyd DeShong, 78, of Harrisonville, PA passed away Friday, June 7th, 2019 at Penn Knoll Village, Everett, PA.

Boyd was born in Andover, PA on October 14, 1940, the son of the late Josephine (Truax) and Melvin  DeShong.  He was the husband of Alice E. (Oakman) DeShong whom he married in 1958.

In his younger years, he attended the Siloam United Methodist Church in Harrisonville, PA and also played men's baseball for Green Hill until he was forty.  He was an equipment operator for PennDOT for thirty-seven and a half years and also was a full time farmer.  Boyd enjoyed farming, fox hunting and coon hunting.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by daughter Ellen (wife of Junior) Swope, of McConnellsburg, PA, sons Denny (husband of Sherry) DeShong, of Harrisonville, PA, Micheal (husband of Sheila) DeShong, of Harrisonville, PA, grandchildren Danielle Miller, Cortney DeShong, Jason, Rodney and Trey Swope, Nicole DeShong, Lauren and Justin DeShong, step-grandson Jordan DeShong, great grandchildren Mason, Noah and two more on the way.  Boyd was preceded in death by son Andrew DeShong and brother Howard DeShong.

Visitation will be Tuesday, June 11th, 2019 from 5 to 8 PM   at Howard L. Sipes Funeral Home, Inc., McConnellsburg, PA.  There will also be visitation one hour before the service on Wednesday at the funeral home.

Religious Service at Howard L. Sipes Funeral Home, Inc., McConnellsburg, PA, at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, June 12th, 2019  with Pastor William Swope officiating.

Interment at Siloam United Methodist Cemetery, Harrisonville, PA.
