Preston R. Carbaugh

Preston R. Carbaugh, 92, of McConnellsburg, PA, passed away Friday, May 19th, 2017 at his residence. Preston was born in Cito, PA on August 24, 1924, a son of the late Marggie (Clevenger) and Elmer W. Carbaugh.  He was the widower of Marian A. "Skip" (Souders) Carbaugh, whom he married on December 4, 1946.  She preceded him in death on May 3, 2012. Mr. Carbaugh was a member of Calvary Independent Baptist Church in McConnellsburg, PA . In  his younger years, Preston worked with his father on the family farm before entering the U.S. Army in 1944.  After being discharged, he went to work at Letterkenny Army Depot where he worked until he retired. Preston is survived by his son Preston E. Carbaugh, of McConnellsburg, PA; daughter Gayle E. Knepper, of Chambersburg, PA;  son Marvin L. Carbaugh, of Chambersburg, PA;  daughter Carole L. Edwards, of Big Cove Tannery, PA and son Mark  E. Carbaugh, of McConnellsburg, PA.  He is also survived by thirteen grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his brothers Carl and Merrill Carbaugh, sisters Pauline Souders and Pearl Carbaugh and a grandson Michael Carbaugh. Visitation will be held on Monday, May 22, 2017 from 4 PM to 8 PM. at the Howard L. Sipes Funeral Home, Inc., McConnellsburg, PA. Funeral service will be held at Calvary Independent Baptist Church, McConnellsburg, PA, at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, May 23rd,  with Pastor John Hodge officiating.
