Phyllis Fae (Burcher) Swope

Phyllis Fae (Burcher) Swope, age 98, of Needmore, PA passed away at her daughter's home on Sunday, November 3, 2024. Born Wednesday, February 3, 1926 in Warren, PA, she was the daughter of Paul Burcher and Mildred Frazer Burcher Rodgers; and the widow of William Foster Swope. They were married on April 9, 1949. He preceded her in death on January 19, 1981. Phyllis graduated from Jenks Township School in Marienville, PA. She operated Burcher's Beauty Shop until her marriage and moved to Fulton County where she worked on the family farm. Phyllis was a member of the Sideling Hill Christian Church serving in the Ladies Aide Auxiliary for many years. Phyllis is survived by a daughter, Cheryl Hoffner and her husband, Todd, of Needmore; a son, Edwin Swope and his wife, Sandra, of Needmore; grandsons, Jeffrey Hoffner and his wife, Sarah, of La Canada Flintridge, CA, Joshua Swope of Needmore, Eric Swope and his wife, Jennifer, of Needmore, Andrew Swope and his wife, Kayla, of Needmore; great grandchildren Alexandra and Ashley Hoffner, Ezra Bain, Sarah, Edwin, and William Swope; a sister Judith McKillip of Brookville, PA; and brothers, Joseph Rodgers of Marienville, PA and William Burcher of Brookville, PA. She was preceded in death by a brother, Richard Burcher. Funeral services will be held at the Sideling Hill Christian Church, Needmore, PA at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, November 7, 2024 with Reverend William Swope officiating. There will be visitation held at the Howard L. Sipes Funeral Home, Inc., McConnellsburg, PA on Wednesday, November 6, 2024 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. There will also be visitation one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday. Interment will be at Sideling Hill Christian Cemetery, Needmore, PA. The family would like to offer special thanks to Grane Hospice for their compassionate support and care.
