Paul L. Ford, 99, of Wells Tannery, PA, passed away Friday, January 31, 2025, at his residence.
Paul was born on March 1, 1925, in Wells Tannery, PA. He was the son of the late Lamberth E. and Elsie G. (Baumgardner) Ford. He was the widower of the late Doris G. (Fisher) Ford, who he married on November 2, 1945. She preceded him in death on December 13, 1998.
In his younger years, Paul farmed and also worked in the coal mines in the Broad Top area. He then went to work for Gamble & Gamble before working for New Enterprise Stone & Lime Company, as a concrete finisher, from 1966 to 1987. He was affiliated with the Wells Valley Presbyterian Church. Paul was a very accomplished ball player in his younger years, playing for the Wells Tannery Team. He enjoyed hunting, he often made his own turkey calls out of chicken bones and even coconut shells. He also enjoyed fishing, gardening, riding his three-wheeler, and going to the Kountry Kettle Restaurant any chance he could. His favorite pastime above all was cutting firewood.
He is survived by three sons, Leonard "Lenny" P. (husband of Joan) Ford, of Wells Tannery, PA, Denny R. (husband of Sydney) Ford, of Wells Tannery, PA, and Brian K. Ford, of Wells Tannery, PA. He is also survived by three grandsons, Chris and Karlin Ford and Brian Strait. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by sisters Violet Yount, Florence Young, Ethel Thomas, brothers John Ford, Teddy Ford, and Glenn "Pete" Ford.
Funeral services will be held at the Wells Valley Presbyterian Church, Wells Tannery, PA at 12:00 PM on Saturday, February 8, 2025, with Pastor Mike Purnell officiating. There will be a visitation from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM held prior to the service at the church on Saturday. Interment will be at Wells Valley Presbyterian Cemetery, Wells Tannery, PA.
Military honors will be conducted by the Fulton Honor Guard.
