Norma Jeanne Deshong

Norma Jeanne DeShong, 67, of McConnellsburg, PA passed away Monday, June 25th, 2018  in Cape Charles, VA.

Norma was born in McConnellsburg, PA on April 3, 1951, the daughter of the late Janet E. (Hockensmith) and Chalmer Leroy Hann.  She was the wife of Thomas "Ed" DeShong, Sr. whom she married on June 2, 1970.

She was a member of the Greenhill Sewing Club in Harrisonville, PA, the VFW Post #655 Ladies Auxiliary in McConnellsburg, PA, the American Legion Post #561 Ladies Auxiliary in McConnellsburg, PA and was of the Methodist faith.  Mrs. DeShong had worked at the Valley Treat, Sagner's Sewing Factory, Fort Family Restaurant, Kay's Place and also was a homemaker.  Norma enjoyed camping, visiting with people, spoiling her grandchildren and having conversation with everyone.  She always said you never know unless you ask.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by sons Thomas E. DeShong, Jr., of McConnellsburg, PA, Matthew J. (husband of Tiona) DeShong, of Buffalo, NY, daughter Nancy J. (wife of Kevin) Harris, of McConnellsburg, PA, grandchildren Wyatt Sinjin DeShong, Zackary DeShong, Kimberly Harris, Persephonie DeShong, three sisters and one brother.  Preceded in death by one brother.

Visitation will be Saturday, June 30th, 2018 from 11 AM to 1 PM   at Howard L. Sipes Funeral Home, Inc., McConnellsburg, PA.

Religious Service at Howard L. Sipes Funeral Home, Inc., McConnellsburg, PA at 1:00 PM on Saturday, June 30th, 2018  with Pastor Robin Baer officiating.

Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.
