Nettie J. Deshong

Nettie J. DeShong, 96, a resident of the Fulton County Medical Center Long Term Care Unit, McConnellsburg, PA and formerly of Chambersburg, PA passed away Thursday, October 7th, 2010 at Fulton County Medical Center, McConnellsburg, PA. Nettie was born in Hustontown, PA on February 10, 1914, the daughter of the late William McKinley Edwards, Jr. and Minnie (Foster) Edwards.  She was the widow of Howard M. DeShong whom she married on August 20, 1942 and he passed away on May 10, 1989. Mrs. DeShong was a member of the Chambersburg Bible Church, Chambersburg, PA and worked at various jobs including being a seamstress, working for restaurants, a caregiver and also a homemaker.  She was an excellent cook, great at gardening and was a very good seamstress known for her needlework.  Nettie will be greatly missed especially her warm smile. She is survived by Daughter Beverly J. Souders of McConnellsburg, PA, seven grandchildren, ten great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.  Preceded in death by daughter Gloria D. Mellott, sisters Wealthy Wright, Gladys Green, brothers Leslie, Norman, Robert, Max and Charles Edwards, one grandchild and one great grandchild. Religious Service at Howard L. Sipes Funeral Home, Inc., McConnellsburg, PA, at 1:00 P.M. on Wednesday, October 13th, 2010 with Rev. Gary Yoder officiating. Interment at Union Cemetery, McConnellsburg, PA. There will be visitation on Tuesday, October 12th 2010 from 2 P.M. to 8 P.M. with the family receiving friends from 6 P.M. to 8 P.M. at Howard L. Sipes Funeral Home, Inc., McConnellsburg, PA.  There will also be visitation one hour before the service on Wednesday at the funeral home. Online condolences may be expressed at www.howardlsipes.com.
