Nellie R. (Deshong) Shotts

Nellie Rachel Shotts, 94, died Tuesday, September 28, 2010 at the Fulton County Medical Center Extended Care Unit, McConnellsburg, PA. Born February 24, 1916 at her home by Scrub Ridge, PA, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Arisha (Everets) DeShong.  On October 24, 1945 she married her loving husband Paul Shotts in Mechanicsburg, PA.  He preceded her in death on July 9, 1986. Nellie is survived by two sons, Paul Shotts, Jr. and wife Colleen of Everett, PA, Mark Shotts and wife Victoria of Central City, PA, six grandchildren, six great grandchildren and a sister Beulah Clever of Greencastle, PA. Preceding her in death were her beloved daughter Sandra Shotts, sisters Tina Weir, Olive Shives, Ruth Hess, Mary Johnson, Enza Tice, Minny Youse, Lena McClain and brothers George DeShong and Harry (Had) DeShong. Nellie was a member of the Fairview United Methodist Church in Harrisonville, PA.  She was a devoted farm wife who loved cooking and her family.  She will be sadly missed by all who loved and knew her. Funeral service will be Saturday, October 2, 2010 at 11 A.M. at the Fairview United Methodist Church, Harrisonville, PA with Pastor William Kuhn officiating. Interment at Fairview United Methodist Cemetery, Harrisonville, PA. Visitation will be Friday, October 1, 2010 from 2 P.M. to 8 P.M. at the Howard L. Sipes Funeral Home, Inc., Harrisonville, PA.  There will also be visitation one hour before the service on Saturday at the church. Online condolences may be expressed at www.howardlsipes.com.
