Merle "Jay" Schooley

February 19, 1941 — March 21, 2014

Merle "Jay"  Schooley, 73, of  Duffield, VA, and formerly of Fulton County, PA, died Friday, March 21, 2014 at Holston Valley Medical Center, Kingsport,  TN. Jay was born in Harrisonville, PA on February 19, 1941, a son of the late Grace M. (Schooley) Rosenberry. Jay graduated from Chambersburg High School in 1959 before going to serve his country in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War. After becoming a disabled veteran, Jay enjoyed life to its fullest, doing construction work and handyman jobs.  He traveled throughout the country, spending most of his life out West. He is survived by two daughters, his sister Patricia J. Keith (wife of Alan) of Chambersburg, PA, one sister-in-law Vicki Whitfield, one step brother, several step sisters and two special caretakers, Ashley and Crystal, who made sure he always had his diet coke and peanut butter crackers.   He was preceded in death by two brothers; Dave Weaver, Robert Whitfield and also two step brothers. A graveside memorial service will be held at the Siloam United Methodist Cemetery, Harrisonville, PA, at 11:00 AM on Saturday, April 12th,  with Pastor Bill Bair officiating. Military services will be conducted by the Fulton Honor Guard. Online condolences may be expressed at www.howardlsipes.com. Arrangements were made by the Howard L.
