Melvin E. "Mickey" Mellott, 83, of Needmore,PA passed away Monday, March 4th, 2013 at Meritus Hospital, Hagerstown, MD.
Melvin was born in Harrisonville, PA on November 2, 1929, the son of the late Oliver and Louetta (Deshong) Mellott.
He served in the U.S. Army as a Pvt during the Korean War, was a member of the Sideling Hill Christian Church, Needmore, PA, the NRA and was a retired office clerk from the Letterkenny Army Depot, Chambersburg, PA
Mr. Mellott is survived by Sisters Beulah Mumma of Falling Waters, WV, Vera Hann of Harrisonville, PA, Hilda (wife of Ira) Daniels of Needmore, PA, Elsie (wife of Allen) Jackson of Breezewood, PA, Brother Paul (husband of Linda) Mellott of Needmore, PA, several nieces and nephews and also his extended family Myreta Elvey, Jill Plessinger, Jack Elvey and Joel Elvey.
Preceded in death by brothers Fred E. Mellott and Harry A. Mellott.
Religious Service at Sideling Hill Christian Church, Needmore, PA, at 1:00 P.M. on Friday, March 8th, 2013 with Pastor William Swope officiating.
Interment at Sideling Hill Christian Cemetery, Needmore, PA.
There will be visitation on Thursday, March 7th, 2013 from 2 to 8 P.M. at Howard L. Sipes Funeral Home, Inc., McConnellsburg, PA. There will also be visitation one hour before the service on Friday at the church.
Military honors will be conducted by the Fulton Honor Guard.
