Mary E. Souders, 90, of McConnellsburg, PA, passed away on Monday, June 8, 2026, at the Fulton County Medical Center Long Term Care Unit in McConnellsburg, PA. 

Mary was born on July 29, 1935, in Needmore, PA. She was the daughter of the late William and Margaret (Shives) Sowers. She was the widow of Ellis Ray Souders Sr., who she married on October 27, 1949. He preceded her in death on June 27, 2011. 

Mary was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She was a member of the Cito United Methodist Church and a hardworking woman who found joy in tending her garden, canning, and baking cookies for family and friends. Mary welcomed the neighborhood children as if they were her own, always making everyone feel loved and at home. 

She is survived by her children, Debra K. Mellott of McConnellsburg, PA; Angela M. Skinner of Mercersburg, PA; Ellis Ray Souders Jr. of Durham, NC; Warren L. Souders of Needmore, PA; and Allen W. Souders of McConnellsburg, PA. She is also survived by two granddaughters, three step-grandchildren, numerous step-great-grandchildren, and one brother, William Harry Sowers, of Fort Loudon, PA. She was preceded in death by her siblings, Edna Hann, Shirley Feagley, Wayne Sowers, George Sowers and Larry Sowers.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, June 12, 2026, at the Howard L. Sipes Funeral Home Inc., McConnellsburg, PA, with Pastor Dick Bernhard officiating. There will be one hour of visitation held prior to the service on Friday. Interment will be at Union Cemetery, McConnellsburg, PA.
