Mary K. (Smith) Sipes

Mary K. Sipes, 79, of McConnellsburg, PA passed away Sunday, March 6th, 2011 at her residence after a long battle with cancer. Mary was born in Buck Valley, PA on April 13, 1931, the daughter of the late Walter and Sarah (Mann) Smith.  She was the widow of Lawrence  Sipes whom she married on February 18, 1950 and he passed away on January 14, 2003. Mrs. Sipes was of the Pentecostal faith, worked twenty plus years at Sagner, Inc. in McConnellsburg, PA as a seamstress, was a homemaker and an excellent cook.  She also loved her family, her pets and gardening. She is survived by Son Daniel Sipes of McConnellsburg, PA, Grandchildren Kenny Sipes, Tanda Skinner, Shay Hess and three great grandchildren.  Preceded in death by infant daughter Mary, son Roger, sister Edith Lake, brothers Jobie and Glen Smith and one infant brother. Religious Service at Howard L. Sipes Funeral Home, Inc., McConnellsburg, PA, at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, March 9th, 2011  with Pastor Donald Bard officiating. Interment at Union Cemetery, McConnellsburg, PA. There will be visitation on Tuesday, March 8th 2011 from 2 P.M. to 8 P.M. at Howard L. Sipes Funeral Home, Inc., McConnellsburg, PA.  There will also be visitation one hour before the service on Wednesday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in memory of Mary to the American Cancer Society, Franklin & Fulton Unit, 384 Floral Avenue, Chambersburg, PA 17201 or the Home Nursing Agency Hospice, 761 5th Avenue, Chambersburg, PA  17201.
