Marjorie Swope

Marjorie Swope, 98, of Chambersburg, PA and formerly of Black Bear Road, Needmore, PA passed away Friday, February 20th, 2015 at Manor Care Nursing Home, Chambersburg, PA. Marjorie was born in Laidig, PA on January 1, 1917, the daughter of the late Bertha (McClain) and Jesse  Laidig.  She was the widow of Coy E. Swope whom she married on June 15, 1940 and he passed away on November 1, 1980. Mrs. Swope was a member of the Ebenezer United Methodist Church in Needmore, PA, past matron and member of the Eastern Star in McConnellsburg, PA and was a seamstress at the Sagner Sewing Factory in McConnellsburg, PA. She is survived by  Daughters Joyce Jay of McConnellsburg, PA, Judy (wife of Joel) Horst of Chambersburg, PA, Sister Elmo Lorah of Ephrata, PA, Grandchildren Tim Plessinger, Cindy Long, Angie Campbell, Harry Shaw, Greg  Shaw, Mark Culbertson, six great grandchildren and seven great great grandchildren.  Preceded in death by sister Dorothy Hollenshead, brother Harvey Laidig and half-brother Paul Laidig. Religious Service at Ebenezer United Methodist Church, Needmore, PA, at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, February 24th, 2015  with Pastor Bill Bair officiating. Visitation will be Monday, February 23rd, 2015 from 4 to 8 PM.   at Howard L. Sipes Funeral Home, Inc., McConnellsburg, PA.  There will also be visitation one hour before the service on Tuesday at the church. An Eastern Star service will be held on Monday at 7:30 PM at the funeral home. Interment at Ebenezer United Methodist Cemetery, Needmore, PA. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Ebenezer United Methodist Church, in care of Coy Spade, 796 Black Bear Road, Needmore, PA 17238. Arrangements were made by the Howard L.
